Insomnia: Lack of sleep can also cause insomnia. 40-50% of adults experience insomnia in their life. Insomnia is not a disease, but a symptom of the lack of sleep and rest. It is caused by the lack of sleep or the bad quality of sleep, this is sometimes bought on by stress, withdrawals from drugs or jet lag. Many other diseases such as GERD, COPD, asthma and brain tumors and strokes can be developed by insomnia
Sleep Apnea: Sleep Apnea is very common, it is where you stop breathing sometimes while sleeping. This disrupts your sleep as you never get enough non-REM sleep. It increases your chance of stroke. asthma, obesity and diabetes.
Restless leg syndrome: RLS is a condition when you get unpleasant sensations in your legs and you need to relive yourself by moving. When not treated it can cause exhaustion and fatigue. This syndrome is usually more common in women than men.
Narcolepsy: Narcolepsy is when the brain cannot regulate sleep-wake cycles properly. During the day, people with this condition have to fight the urge to not fall asleep. People with this also have bad patterns of REM sleep.
Parasomnias: This is a condition where you are both awake and asleep at one time. This is a very dangerous condition because the victim can become verbally and physically dangerous. It is usually caused by stress or depression. There are many different types of Parasomnia, these are; confusional arousal's, nightmares, nocturnal leg cramps, REM sleep behaviours disorder, sleep bruxism, sleep enuresis, sleep paralysis, sleep talking and sleep walking.
